Through the correct identification and shaping of key deliverables, JGA can assist benefit owners and the programme manager with the change process. Along with a range of other deliverables, four key strategic deliverables are used by JGA, the benefit management strategy, the benefit milestone plan, the benefits network and benefit profiles.

Benefit Management Strategy

Any strategic-level change process requires a clear statement of the business case and, in addition, a clear statement of the overall approach that will be used for the achievement of benefit. The principle aim is to provide confidence that the change programme will be carried out with clear direction, to the point where the benefits are relealised. The strategy must include a statement of the main strategic and operational objectives, indicating the scale of the operational and strategic challenge. It must also include who the main benefit owners will be and how the achievement of benefits will be measured and reported to stakeholders.

Benefit Milestone Plan

The benefit milestone plan is a high level schedule showing how the realisation of benefits will synchronise with the important programme milestones and other major milestones in the change process

Benefits Network

The benefits network is developed by JGA for each cleint project and shows, in terms of cause-and-effect, the underlieing logic for the business case for the programme. The benefits network is also a valuable tool for managing dependencies between different parts of the programme. JGA identifies key relationships within the change programme, allowing the implications of any changes in programme scope or delivery timescales will have on benefit delivery.

Benefit Profiles

Each of the benefits within the change plan has a formal definition. These are developed during the initial planning stages and are used to assess feasibility and how benefits will be implemented and measured. Subsequently the benefit profiles form documents against which to monitor progress and assess the impact of change.
